Contemporary art in the collection – 159 works: from 12 000 to 7 000 000 ₽; from 18 000 to 100 000 $ (some works are priced in US dollars). Works by artists from the second half of the 20th century to today – from post-war nonconformism to current art, in painting, graphics, sculpture, prints, objects and photography.

The core is Russian nonconformism and its legacy: Mikhail Shemyakin, Ernst Neizvestny, Vladimir Nemukhin, Boris Sveshnikov, Aron Bukh. A separate line is Moscow actionism and conceptualism: Oleg Kulik, Anatoly Osmolovsky, Anton Litvin, Yuri Shabelnikov. And artists of today, including the Rostov scene: Alexander Chursin, Oleg Ustinov, Konstantin Batynkov, Sergey Sapozhnikov.

Contemporary art differs in that many artists are alive and still working, and the context of a piece is clear and transparent. Each work lists artist, year, technique and size, with the price on the card. The fund’s specialists support the deal and help with delivery in Russia and abroad.

Questions and answers

What counts as contemporary art?

Works by artists active from the second half of the 20th century to today – from post-war nonconformism and Moscow actionism to living artists. Modernist masters of the early 20th century and historical art are not included here.

What does contemporary art cost?

The range is from 12 000 to 7 000 000 ₽; from 18 000 to 100 000 $ (some works are priced in US dollars), depending on the artist, technique, size and the work’s place in their output.

Whose work is represented?

Russian nonconformism (Mikhail Shemyakin, Ernst Neizvestny, Vladimir Nemukhin), Moscow actionism and conceptualism (Oleg Kulik, Anatoly Osmolovsky), and living artists including the Rostov scene.

What media are in the selection?

Painting, graphics, sculpture, prints, objects and photography – contemporary art here is not limited to painting.

How is authenticity confirmed?

We give artist, technique and provenance, with an expert report where one exists; for contemporary works attribution is usually simpler, as many artists are alive and the provenance is shorter.
