The painting belongs to the late, conceptual-abstract phase of Klara Golitsyna's work, which the artist reached from figurative painting during the 1980s and 1990s. The theme of movement, announced in the title, is treated in oil as a plastic rather than a narrative problem – through rhythm, direction and the interaction of colour masses. In these years Golitsyna took part in surveys of Russian abstraction, including the exhibition 'Abstraction in Russia. 20th Century' at the State Russian Museum (2001–2002). Her works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
