About Don foundation
The Don Contemporary Culture Foundation is dedicated to documenting the artistic landscape of Rostov-on-Don and culture as a whole in a historical context. The Foundation pays special attention to significant cultural phenomena of the late 20th and early 21st centuries that made a major contribution to the development of contemporary art but remained inaccessible to a wide audience.
The goal of the foundation is to support young Russian artists and curators, as well as unique cultural projects reflecting the history of contemporary art development at the local level.
One of the Foundation's tasks is to create an intellectual environment in Rostov-on-Don, introducing Russian and international audiences to the work of contemporary domestic artists.
The Foundation is building its own collection of contemporary culture: painting, graphics, photography, sculpture, video art by local and Russian artists. Based on this collection, the DonFoundation Auction House was created.

Exhibition activities

2014Exhibition "Untitled, Voronezh"
As part of his first solo exhibition in Voronezh, Rostov artist Sergey Sapozhnikov presented a new series of Polaroid photographs, as well as ten large-format works from previous years. His unique approach to color led to comparisons with Renaissance masters. Each new photographic work is based on a unique performative situation, and often a unique sculptural installation created by the artist.
2014Exhibition "The Last Weekend at the Voronezh Sea"
Exhibition "The Last Weekend at the Voronezh Sea", together with the Voronezh Center for Contemporary Art. Participants are artists of the so-called "Voronezh new wave", offering a panoramic view of contemporary art in the capital of the Black Earth region from the 90s to the present day.
2016Exhibition "The Drama Machine" with Gazprombank Private Banking
Curator Irene Calderoni — Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin, Italy). Sapozhnikov was born in Rostov-on-Don in 1984 and is today one of the brightest representatives of the new generation of Russian artists. The inspiration for this series was an architectural landmark of his hometown — the Gorky Drama Theatre, designed by architects Vladimir Shchuko and Vladimir Gelfreikh in 1930.
