Decorative and applied art covers objects that combine artistic intent with a practical purpose: small-scale porcelain sculpture, hand-painted ware, interior pieces. Unlike easel painting, such objects were produced from a model in editions, sometimes of only a few dozen.
The collection holds 417 works. Its core is Soviet porcelain sculpture of the 1930s–1980s, alongside artist porcelain by Mikhail Shemyakin. The factories represented include LFZ, Polonne, Dulyovo, Kyiv, LZFI, Sysert, Korosten, Gzhel, Verbilki and Horodnytsia.
Each entry gives the material and technique and, where known, the dimensions, period, mark and condition. We do not describe pieces as flawless: rubbed gilding and traces of use are normal for objects half a century old, and where this is known, the entry says so.
