Evening in Stanitsa Veshenskaya

Technique: Canvas, oil.
Size: 50 × 70 cm.

The painting continues the central theme of Vladimir Trunin's work – the landscape of the Don region. A native of Rostov-on-Don, the artist has for many years turned to the nature of the Don. This evening motif, executed in oil, depicts the environs of the stanitsa of Vyoshenskaya – a place inseparably linked with the name of the writer Mikhail Sholokhov – and conveys the quiet mood of the riverside steppe at sunset. The manner rests on direct observation from nature, characteristic of the Don landscape tradition.
