The canvas is by Andrei Vishnevsky, a painter and cultural theorist (Candidate of Sciences in the Theory of Culture) and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, whose work gives considerable attention to contemporary everyday life and consumer society. The cocktail motif is handled in an easel-painting manner: an ordinary object of the table becomes a subject in its own right, observed with a careful, faintly ironic eye for the signs of present-day life.
