The painting continues Andrei Vishnevsky's body of work addressing consumer society and the market economy. Trained as a cultural theorist (Candidate of Sciences in the Theory of Culture) and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, the artist gives the abstract notion of the market a visible, almost portrait-like "face," in keeping with his cycle of socially critical images that also includes such works as "Status Object" and "Consumer." The composition joins a figurative core to a generalized, allegorical reading of its subject.
