Masks

Series:Edition 198/250

950 $

Technique: Lithograph.
Size: 80 × 65 cm.

A lithograph depicting masks is directly connected to the theme of carnival central to Chemiakin – above all to his series "Carnivals of St. Petersburg," where the Venetian mask is joined with the style of imperial St. Petersburg, the commedia dell'arte and the Russian lubok. For the artist the mask is not an ornament but a character in its own right within a theatricalized, metaphysical world.
