When I Smashed My Face and Limbs Against the Walls (Conversation with the Executioner)

360 $
Technique: Arches paper.
Size: 36 × 28 cm.
A sheet from the cycle "Illustrations to the Poems and Songs of Vladimir Vysotsky," a series of original lithographs on Arches paper that grew out of the artist's long friendship with the poet. The plate refers to the song "Conversation with the Executioner," staging the confrontation in the artist's grotesque, metaphysical idiom of masks and phantasmagoria. The cycle is among the best-known parts of Shemyakin's printmaking.
