Still Life with Fish and Bread

Series:Edition 12/25

Year:1990

1 100 $

Technique: Lithograph.
Size: 46 × 66 cm.

A sheet from among Mihail Chemiakin's still lifes, in which the artist turns to simple objects – fish and bread – as a pretext for a plastic and metaphysical study. In the spirit of his own "metaphysical synthetism," he strips the objects of everyday recognizability to reveal the hidden "essence" of form beneath the surface. The still life holds a steady place in Chemiakin's graphic work alongside his carnival and theatrical cycles.
