Moscow

Technique: Canvas, oil.
Size: 68 × 50 cm.

A cityscape devoted to Moscow. The painting continues the line of decorative views of Russian towns that holds a notable place in the work of Katya (Ekaterina Ivanovna) Medvedeva, a self-taught painter and one of the best-known figures of Russian naïve art. The architectural motif is rendered in her characteristic primitivist manner – a flattened composition, generalized forms, and resonant colour.
