An artist, theorist and curator, one of the chief ideologues of 1990s Moscow actionism. Founder of the group “E.T.I.”, which caused a sensation with its action on Red Square (1991). In the 2000s he deliberately moved from action to object and sculpture: he worked with the forms of bread and tank tracks, and his “Breads” series became his signature. He founded the “BAZA Institute”, an independent school of contemporary art that has trained a whole generation of artists. A laureate of the Innovation Prize. He combines a left-wing political optic with rigorous formal analysis. The foundation’s catalogue holds one work (“Breads”, 2010).
