A sheet from the suite "Le Bestiaire de La Fontaine dalinisé," a cycle of twelve drypoints after Jean de La Fontaine's fables (published by Les Maîtres Contemporains, Paris). The subject follows the fable "The Stag Seeing Himself in the Water": the stag who admires his antlers and disdains his slender legs, which in the end save him while the antlers become entangled in the branches. Executed in drypoint with hand-colouring en pochoir.
