Early 1900s. A quiet nocturnal scene: the dome of a Moscow church under a full moon. The work shows the influence of the Kuindzhi school – attention to light, atmosphere and subtle mood. Nikolai Khimona was an academician of painting and one of the founders of the Kuindzhi Society. His works are held in the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum.
