This small-scale genre porcelain figure depicts a girl teasing a dog with a sweet clutched in her hand – a subject widely reproduced in Soviet decorative art. The model is the work of the sculptor Svetlana Vladislavovna Golembovskaya (Bolzan, 1927–2016), a master of small-form ceramic sculpture, and was produced from the 1950s onward at the Kyiv, Polonne and Riga porcelain factories. Its composition derives from the illustration on the wrapper of the eponymous 'A nu-ka, otnimi' sweet made by the Krasny Oktyabr confectionery. The present example is distinguished by its multicoloured hand painting, enriched with gilding.
