Roses

Technique: Canvas, oil.
Size: 80 × 90 cm.

Roses is a floral still life executed in oil on canvas. The composition centres on a motif of cut garden roses, with the painterly emphasis placed on colour, the density of the petals and soft, diffused light. The work continues the enduring tradition of the intimate flower still life in Russian painting of the second half of the twentieth century.
