Hunting Still Life with Duck

Year:19th century

3 000 $

Technique: Canvas, oil.
Size: 81 × 82 cm.

The painting belongs to the hunting still life (nature morte au gibier), a genre rooted in the Flemish tradition of the Antwerp school. The fallen duck is rendered in oil in a restrained palette, with careful attention to the texture of the plumage and the materiality of the hunter's quarry. Oscar Mülkens was a Belgian painter active in Antwerp, known chiefly for still lifes and floral compositions shown at exhibitions in Belgium.
