Technique: Faience, painting.
Size: Height 19 cm.
Sculpture “Borzois”. Germany, Katzhütte manufactory (Katzhutte). 1970s–1980s. Faience. 34.5×10.5 cm. Height 19 cm. Manufactory mark underglaze, printed in green. Good condition. The Hertwig & Co porcelain manufactory was founded in Germany, Thuringia, in 1864 by Christoph Hertwig and produced children's dolls, decorative elements, gifts, as well as ceramic products and porcelain figurines. About 500 people were employed in production. In 1958 the factory was nationalised and came to be called Katzhutte (Katzhütte). The product range was sharply reduced. A very interesting fact is that at the time of nationalisation a great many of the factory's historical samples were archived. Dolls, vases and figurines were packed in boxes and locked away in one of the warehouses. Most of the items were sold at auctions in Berlin and London. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the factory was closed.
