About the artist

A French painter and printmaker of Alsatian origin. Born in Strasbourg, he studied and worked in Paris and belonged to the School of Paris circle. He painted Normandy beaches, Parisian embankments, boulevards and ports — bright, airy, built on a silvery-blue palette. He also worked in lithography and book illustration. He exhibited in the Paris salons and galleries; his works are prized for their lightness and high painterly culture. The foundation’s catalogue holds one work.
