Asta Davydovna Brzhezitskaya (1912–2004) – Soviet sculptor, a recognised master of porcelain sculpture. She created more than five hundred works in various ceramic materials. Among them are original genre compositions and sculptural portraits. Asta Davydovna worked at the Dulyovo Porcelain Factory for 41 years, creating more than 250 models for mass reproduction and for unique exhibition projects. She is the author of more than five hundred works, including a series dedicated to the factory – “Here in Dulyovo”, and the cycle of works “Soviet Socialist Republics” (“Sixteen Republics”). Her early work is rich in ethnographic painting. Over time, however, Brzhezitskaya began to leave the sculpture white, with light golden decoration and one or two spots, so as to enhance the living plasticity of the subject and not to drain it of life through stylisation. Works by the talented sculptor are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Kuskovo Museum of Ceramics, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, Moscow theatres, art and literary museums of Russia and Latvia, and also in private collections in Russia and the USA.
