The painting section holds works from the Don Foundation collection that can be bought directly, outside the auction sessions. The collection holds 126 works: oil on canvas and board, tempera and mixed media, by Russian and international artists of the 19th–21st centuries. The price range is from 8 000 to 1 200 000 ₽; from 4 000 to 70 000 $ (some works are priced in US dollars).

The selection is deliberately varied. Alongside classic Russian painting – landscapes, still lifes and portraits of the late 19th to mid-20th century – stand works by artists active today: Mikhail Shemyakin, Konstantin Batynkov, Alexander Chursin, Oleg Ustinov, Irina Grabkova, and international names from David Burliuk to Valerio Carrubba.

What sets buying a painting at auction apart from a furniture shop or a marketplace: each work has a known author, and most a known year, technique, size and provenance. It is an original, not a print on canvas. The price is on the card; for some works it can be requested. The foundation’s specialists guide the sale and arrange delivery.

A painting from the collection is an original work by a specific artist, not a print made from a photograph. It has an author, a technique and usually a provenance.

How is authenticity established?

We give the artist, technique and provenance, with an expert report where one exists, and state only what is documented.

How do I buy a painting, and is delivery arranged?
