The book, made of coal and resin, belongs to the group of Anzelm's objects united under the project "Geology of Knowledge" (2007), in which cultural artefacts were reproduced in anthracite. Turning a book – a carrier of knowledge – into coal draws cultural and geological memory together: the text is likened to a seam compressed by time. The work belongs to the artist's central theme of "heavy" materiality and the industrial past.
