The work belongs to the "Only for Kings" series, in which Alexander Chursin joins the manners of the Old Masters to the imagery of contemporary hip-hop culture. Here he turns to the tradition of the Dutch Golden Age still life, following its handling of light, shadow and the texture of objects. The artist has described the series as a kind of act of deconstruction, in which the familiar language of classical painting is set against contemporary content. The canvas is executed in the Old Master technique to which Chursin adheres consistently, down to preparing the support himself.
