Graphic art is work built on drawing, line and tone rather than a paint layer. It is made on paper and board – pencil, ink, pen, watercolour, gouache, pastel, charcoal, mixed media. The collection holds 12 works, priced from 40 000 to 360 000 ₽.

It matters to distinguish original from editioned graphics. An original sheet is unique – a drawing by the artist’s hand. Editioned graphics (prints, lithographs) are printed from an artist’s matrix in a limited run and sit in a separate section. This section is original graphics.

Paper is fragile and sensitive to light and damp, so condition affects price more than in painting. Each description states technique, size, support and condition.

Questions and answers

How does graphic art differ from painting?

In graphics the image is built from line, stroke and tone, usually on paper. Painting is built on colour and the texture of paint, usually on canvas or board.

Are original graphics and prints the same thing?

No. An original sheet is unique, drawn by hand. A print is pulled from an artist’s matrix in an edition, and sits in our “Prints” section.

What do graphics cost here?
