"Panorama d'Èze" continues the Mediterranean views for which Gabriel Deschamps is known. Èze is an old village perched on a rock between Nice and Monaco; the painter takes it from a high, panoramic vantage point – houses rising in terraces, a bell tower, the greenery of gardens and a strip of sea on the horizon. The dense decorative touch and a saturated warm palette of ochres, greens and the blue of sky and water are characteristic of his manner, which inherits from Post-Impressionism and Fauvism. The panoramic view of the Côte d'Azur is among the recurring motifs in the artist's work.
