Viktor Fyodorovich Abashin (1864–1919) was a Russian artist of the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, connected with the artistic life of the Don region, above all the city of Novocherkassk. His work belongs to the tradition of realist Russian painting and the regional art school of southern Russia. Abashin belonged to the circle of professional Novocherkassk artists and was a member of the “Circle of Don Artists”, founded in 1893. He was closely associated with the well-known painter Ivan Ivanovich Krylov. The painting conveys the atmosphere of the early 20th century – the calm, spaciousness and rhythm of rural life. Here the artist shows a moment of country life: the harvest on a broad Don field. Created in 1910–1911.
