A late graphic sheet by Boris Sveshnikov, one of the central figures of unofficial, "other" art. This finely worked ink phantasmagoria continues the imagery that first took shape in his camp drawings of the 1950s: fragile figures and ghostly forms dissolving into a shimmering, unreal space. The title points to a motif recurrent in his work – metamorphosis and flux, in which the material world loses its stability and seems to melt into mist. His manner joins the meticulousness of the Northern Renaissance to a surreal, dreamlike atmosphere.
