In Early Spring is an intimate landscape by Vasily Sergeevich Orlov (1910–2010), a painter whose life and work were bound to Taganrog and the Azov lands of the Don. The motif of awakening nature, still sparing in colour, belongs to the landscape tradition that remained central to the artist throughout his career. It is painted in oil in the small format characteristic of studies made from life. Orlov's works are held in the Taganrog Art Gallery and in private collections in Russia and abroad.
